Cosafa Cup: Namibia knocked out as Botswana and South Africa proceed

South Africa and Botswana have progressed to the semi-finals of the Cosafa Cup. South Africa beat Lesotho while Botswana upsets hosts and defending champions Namibia.

Both matches had to go into penalties to decide the winner.

Thabo-Ntso gave Lesotho the lead against South Africa but Bafana Bafana equalised through Motupa. Motupa was later sent off after a second yellow card. The resulting shoot out saw South Africa win 4-2.

In the other quarterfinal Botswana went ahead through an own goal in the 50th minute but Namibia got an 83rd minute penalty to force the match into a shootout.

The shootout was tightly contested with Botswana eventually winning 5-4 after Namibia had their 5th spot kick saved.

South Africa will take on the winner between Swaziland and Zambia while Botswana meet the winner between DR Congo and Mozambique.
