ZPSL Preview: FC Platinum and CAPS United clash

League title hopefuls FC Platinum and CAPS United meet at Mandava Stadium in potentially explosive encounter this afternoon.

Both teams have been are the pacesetters this season together with log leaders Highlanders.

FC Platinum are currently in second spot with 26 points while CAPS United are a point behind in third spot.

FC Platinum grinded out a 2-1 win over Mutare City last weekend while CAPS United were frustrated by Hwange as they blew a number of chances to draw 1-1. The result did not go down well with the Green Machine fans who demanded an audience with head coach Lloyd Chitembwe after the game.

Another setback today will is likely to lead to more negative reaction and Chitembwe and his team will need a key win to boost their title ambitions.

Chitembwe is boosted by the return of veteran striker Leonard Tsipa while FC Platinum have a full strength squad to choose from with Brian Muzondiwa receiving the green light to play.

With Highlanders not in action this weekend after the postponement of ZPSL fixtures in Bulawayo, FC Platinum could take top spot with a win or draw. Norman Mapeza also have the slight edge on their rivals with a game in hand after their game against Chicken Inn was moved.

CAPS United have the better record in the past 10 league meetings between the two sides.

CAPS United have won against FC Platinum four times while the tie has ended in a draw on five occasions. FC Platinum have only registered one win against CAPS United that coming in 2014.
