Henry leaves Arsenal coaching role after Wenger ultimatum

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has left his coaching role at the club after reportedly being handed an ultimatum by Arsene Wenger.

Henry who works as  pundit of Sky Sports had been set to take over as Arsenal U-18 coach ,however Wenger is understood to have asked Henry to drop his job as a pundit if he wanted the job.

Henry was critical of the Gunners performance last season with Wenger hitting back at some of the comments made the club’s top scorer of all time.

Wenger felt  Henry could not work within the club during the week and then criticise their players at the weekend as a pundit.

Henry took to his Twitter account to announce his departure from the club:

‘I would like to thank Andries Jonker for offering me the chance to coach the U18’s @arsenal, which I was honoured to accept.

‘However… I respect Arsene Wenger’s decision and I want to wish their manager Kwame Ampadu, the boys and everyone at the club all the best for the forthcoming season.

Arsenal are now likely to appoint another former skipper in Tony Adams as the U-18 coach.
