Akbay delight as Chunga regrets missed chances

Erol Akbay was delighted to clinch his first silverware as Highlanders head coach when his side beat Harare City 4-2 in a penalty shoot-out.

Prosper Mathuthu was the hero for Highlanders stopping Harare City in regular time and then going on to save two spot kicks in the shootout. Erick Mudzingwa, Simon Munawa,Peter Dube and Peter Muduhwa all scored for Highlanders.

Akbay almost missed the game as he was due to travel to the Netherlands during the current league break but admits he was glad he stayed to lift the cup.

“Of course it was better to stay and win the cup he said after the game.

“I am very happy with this, it’s my first cup at the club and it feels good. “We did not play as well as we wanted especially in the first half but what matters is the win concluded Akbay

Harare City head coach Moses Chunga was left frustrated and felt his team should have made their dominance count and finish the game earlier.

“We should have buried the game in the first 90 minutes. “When you go into a penalty shoot-out this is when luck comes and we got a bit nervous. “Its now water under the bridge and we shift attention to our next league match added Chunga.
