Following the ugly scenes that were witnessed on Sunday after the Highlanders versus Chicken Inn game, Bulawayo football giants held a meeting with the police.
Highlanders CEO Ndumiso Gumede said, “We had a meeting with the police and we managed to share some ideas on crowd management. We discussed how we can curb violence and I’m happy to say they are doing a lot of follows with regards to those who caused the violence on Sunday,” said Gumede.
“They asked us to increase the number of officers who will provide security in our matches. Unfortunately, we cannot do that because it will cost us,” added Gumede.
He added as a club there was little they could do with regards to curbing violence at stadia as it has become a Zimbabwean problem a culture that is being accepted. Gumede challenged the police to tighten things at entry points like searching fans.
