West Ham forward Andre Ayew has reportedly paid the air fares for Ghana’s foreign based players after the country’s sports ministry said they did not have the funds to fly in the players for the final AFCON qualifier against Rwanda.
Ghana have already qualified for AFCON 2017 and the ministry of sports had insisted the technical team should only use locally based players for the match to avoid high costs.
The Ministry of Sports has been criticised in Ghana with fans expressing concern on the way football is being administered in the country.
Ayew who recently broke the West Ham transfer record is injured and will not feature in the match but still went ahead to pay for his teammates.
