Chapungu win battle of the training ground

Gweru City Council has bowed down to pressure from Chapungu after having double booked Ascot Stadium to allow Highlanders to train at the same venue.

The two sides clash in a Castle Lager premiership encounter with Highlanders hoping to maintain their fine run and keep pace with the log leaders FC Platinum.

Acting town clerk Edgar Mwedzi said Highlanders will now use Mkoba Stadium to conduct their training sessions.

“I think there was a misunderstanding on the use of Ascot Stadium. Chapungu is our club and have the first preference in the use of the facility. In this instance they will use the stadium and Highlanders will use Mkoba Stadium and there was a never an issue about double booking,” he said.

Bosso are chasing the league championship while Chapungu is targeting a top eight finish.
