The Soccer Star of the Year will be crowned later this evening as the Castle Lager Premiership honours players, coaches and clubs at a banquet set to be hosted at Cresta Lodge this evening.

CAPS United striker Leonard Tsipa is a hot favourite to clinch the award after his 11 goals played a key role in the Green Machine lifting the league title.

Tsipa is already guaranteed of the Golden Boot after finishing as the league top goal scorer

However Tsipa faces stiff competition from fellow teammate Hardlife Zvirekwi while FC Platinum goalkeeper who had an impressive 15 cleans sheets is considered a “dark horse” for the award .

The Soccer Star of the Year will walk away with a cool $5 000 while the 1st runner up and 2nd runner up will win $3000 and $2000.

The coach of the Year will also be awarded with Lloyd Chitembwe likely to win it after his league success with CAPS United but Ngezi Platinum’s Tonderai Ndiraya is also a strong candidate for the prize.

Highlanders youngster Prince Dube is highly tipped to win the Young Player of the Year after a fine debut season for Bosso.

Other awards set to be handed out are the Referee of the Year, Most disciplined team and Goal Keeper of the Year.
