Chungwa Catches Up With Epoupa On Scoring Charts As Goals Charts Is Clarified

Caps United striker Dominic Chungwa’s strike against Chicken on Thursday night saw him drawing level with Dynamos striker Christian Epoupa as the joint top goal scorers with 11 goals Soccer24 can reveal.

Contrary to the widely misread goal tally that put Epoupa is on 12 goals, documents at the Premier Soccer League shows that the Cameroonian is on 11 goals as his goal against Highlanders at Babourfields stadium was forfeited.

Dynamos were given that game on a 3-0 score line through a boardroom decision after it was abandoned with the two teams tied on one goal each.

The Premier Soccer League confirmed to Soccer24 that Epoupa is on 11 goals the same as Chungwa.

In 2014 Charles Sibanda then with Highlanders cried foul after after he shared the golden boot award with Kuda Musharu of How Mine with the PSL records stating that they both scored 12 goals. Sibanda and Highlanders disputed this with then chief executive Ndumiso Gumede telling the media that the player was cheated.

With eight games to go before the end of the season and Chungwa in top form, Black Rhinos’ Lot Chiwunga breathing hard behind the two on 10 goals, the race for the golden boot is as hot as the title race.
