FIFA have announced the winners of their annual The Best awards at a gala ceremony in London with Cristiano Ronaldo being crowned as the best men’s player in the world for a fifth time.

Coaches and captains from every FIFA national team were invited to vote in the awards for best men’s player and coach and best women’s player and coach.

Zimbabwe’s choices for the men’s awards were made by Norman Mapeza, who is one of the Warriors caretaker coaches, and Zimbabwe captain Knowledge Musona.

Mapeza’s vote helped crown Real Madrid and Portugal superstar Ronaldo with the Zimbbwean making him his first choice, ahead of Barcelona’s Lionel Messi and Madrid’s Toni Kroos.

Musona also picked Real Madrid’s Ronaldo as his number 1, followed by Barcelona’s Messi , with Kroos in third place.

As captains of their respective countries, the top two vote-getters for the prize each selected a club team-mate to win the prestigious award.

Lionel Messi chose Luis Suarez for the 2016-17 Best FIFA Men’s Player award, while eventual winner Cristiano Ronaldo picked Luka Modric to win the prize.
