FC Platinum yesterday confirmed that they will participate in the CAF Champions League which changed its format to conform with the European calendar.

The Premier Soccer League board last month handpicked FC Platinum by virtue of being the defending champions to represent the country in the continental club competition whose deadline for registration is October when the local league will still be in full swing.

“We are going to play in the champions league. The reason why we play to be champions is that we want to play against the best on the continent. So this is an offer we grabbed with both hands and we will prepare well,” said club president George Mawere.

Harare City the other team nominated by the Premier Soccer League to participate in the second tier of the continental club competition the Confederation Cup are still to confirm their participation.

The Confederation of African Football changed its calendar for the 2019 season with the preliminary stages now starting in November soon after the conclusion of the 2018 competitions.
