Manica Diamond became the first team to gain promotion to the Premier League and coach Luke Masomere says his club is not going to be a one season wonder.

The Mutare-based side have posted an unassailable 17-point lead ahead of second-placed Tenax after being accorded three points through the boardroom following the folding of Zero 11 on Tuesday.

Masomere is adamant that his team will not meet the same fate as Highway, Eastern Lions, Dongo Saw Mills and Mutare City who have never lasted more than a season after gaining promotion from Manicaland Province.

“All those teams went down because they were not coached by the ‘Doctor of Football’,” said Masomere who calls himself by that title.

“We have set a firm foundation to compete well in the Premiership, so there is no way we are going to be relegated. Actually, we have started preparations well for the next season and beyond. We have big ambitions for the club.”

Manica Diamond who assembled a formidable team during the off-season have gone for 24 matches without a defeat and are left with five games to complete the season without a loss.
