Former Highlanders coach Erol Akbay is set to be unveiled as new Ngezi Platinum Stars coach on Friday during their awards ceremony.
Akbay topped the list of the shortlisted candidates after impressing during interviews. The Dutchman will be assisted by former Dynamos coach Lloyd Mutasa who is also the national team assistant coach.
Ngezi chairman Jeremiah Gasitene, however, tried to bottle it until Friday.
“It’s just mere speculation, the appointment of the new coach is going to be made public at the right time. At the moment there is nothing like that, we have not appointed anyone,” said Gasitene.
A number of coaches have been linked with the Ngezi Platinum Stars job since the departure of Tonderayi Ndiraya with Mark Harrison and Kelvin Kaindu said to be the other front-runners.
