Congo Brazzaville has submitted a surprise bid to host the expanded 24-team 2019 Afcon tournament after Cameroon were stripped of the rights last week.
Caf second vice president Constant Omari told Radio France International that Congo had submitted their interest together with another unnamed country.
“Congo Brazzaville has already written to organise (2019),” Omari said.
“Our (Caf) deputy secretary-general Anthony Baffoe told me that he was going to tell me of a second candidate.”
Should Congo’s bid be successful, this will have an impact on Group G where Zimbabwe are currently on top. Only one team will progress to the finals unless CAF comes up with different criteria.
