UEFA Champions League Preview

Liverpool welcome Bayern Munich at Anfield tonight in the round of 16, first leg encounter.

The two European giants have only met five times before and their last game happened in 2001 in the UEFA Super Cup with the Reds winning 3-2.

The English side will be without defender Virgil van Dijk due to a booking he picked up during the last European outing against Napoli. Joe Gomez and Dejan Lovren are unlikely to take part in the encounter due to injuries.

On the other hand, the Germans could miss Kingsley Coman after he picked up an ankle knock during Friday’s Bundesliga fixture against Augsburg while Jerome Boateng has not travelled to Merseyside due to a virus.

Thomas Muller will also miss the clash due to a suspension following a tackle on an Ajax player in the group stage.

In another Champions League game on tonight, Barcelona plays against Lyon in France.

The kick-off times for both matches is at 10 pm and they will be shown live on Supersport TV.
