Club Africain awarded win, Ismaily fined

Egyptian side Ismaily has been fined $40 000 by CAF after their Champions League match against Club Africain of Tunisia last month was abandoned.

The game was also awarded to the Tunisians on a 3-0 win while in further punishment, Ismaily will play their next home match, against CS Constantine of Algeria this Saturday, behind closed doors.

Club Africain were leading Ismaily 2-1 in Egypt on January 18 when home fans started throwing missiles on the pitch, forcing the referee to call off the match in stoppage time.

Following CAF’s decision, Ismaily anchors Group C with no points while Club Africain is in third with four. TP Mazembe leads the group with Constantine coming in the second position.
