We are not here to please anyone: Mapeza

FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza says his team will not bow down to pressure of expectations as they have their targets in the African Champions League.

The Zimbabwe champions play Orlando Pirates tonight, and Mapeza is unperturbed by criticism of his team’s lack of firepower upfront in which they have failed to score a goal in four matches.

“We don’t need to explain anything to anyone because we know our situation. We have our targets which are on course. This is our first time in the mini-league and for us, and it’s about the experience,” said Mapeza.

“There is no pressure for me because I am the one who brought this team to this level. So there is no pressure. We are just taking each game as it comes and to have our players gain the experience.”

FC Platinum remains the only club in the group without a win. Their only point came in the goalless draw against Pirates at home in January. They will be hoping for a change of fortunes against the fatigued Buccaneers who were in action against Bloemfontein Celtics on Wednesday.
