Warriors should take Congo match like Cup Final: Pasuwa

Former Warriors coach Callisto Pasuwa has urged the national team players to treat the Afcon qualifier against Congo this month like a cup final.

Zimbabwe host the Central Africans on the 24th of March at National Sports Stadium in Harare and coach Sunday Chidzambwa has already named a 28-member provisional squad consisting of several South African-based players and those plying their trade overseas.

Speaking to the Sunday Mail, Pasuwa who is the last coach to take the Warriors to the Afcon finals said: “We expect signs of maturity from the players that are going to do duty. They should guard against complacency.

“They should approach the match with the ideal attitude, take it like a cup final or like the Democratic Republic of Congo away tie where they managed to grind a win. We have the home advantage, but that does not mean we are already in it.”

Zimbabwe currently tops Group G with eight points and requires at least a draw to book a place at 2019 Afcon tournament in Egypt.
