Two on target but disappointing Saturday for majority of Zim players in ABSA Premiership

It was a disappointing Saturday for the majority of Zimbabwean players in the ABSA Premiership as they failed to inspire their respective teams to victory in the penultimate round of fixtures on Saturday.

Of all the Zimbabwean players plying their trade across the Limpopo, only Terrence Dzukamanja and Tendai Ndoro managed to steer their respective sides to victory.

Dzukamanja’s Bidvest Wits managed a 3-1 triumph over Elvis Chipezeze’s Baroka while Tendai Ndoro scored the only goal in the match as his side overcame Ronald Pfumbidzai’s Bloem Celtic.

Nyasha Munetsi’s title-chasing Orlando Pirates conceded a late equalizer in a 2 all draw with Cape Town City, a result which hands the advantage in the title race to Mamelodi Sundowns.

Elsewhere, Kaitano Tembo’s Supersport United, who have Zimbabweans Evans Rusike and Onismo Bhasera within their ranks, succumbed a 3-1 defeat to relegation-threatened Maritzburg United while George Chigova and Walter Musona’s Polokwane City fell at home to Chippa United by the same scoreline.

Khama Billiat’s Kaizer Chiefs needed a Daniel Cardoso penalty in the second half to restore parity in a dull home 1 all draw with Free State Stars.

Ovidy Karuru’s Amazulu could only manage a 1 all stalemate with Black Leopards.
