Warriors coach Sunday Chidzambwa has responded to the comment made by the coach of Uganda, Sebastien Desabre, following he 2019 Afcon finals draw held last month.

Zimbabwe were drawn in Group A together with the East African country, the hosts Egypt and DRC, and Desabre later commented on the draw saying the Warriors will be the whipping boys in their group.

But in an interview with The Herald, Chidzambwa is not worried by the statement. He said: “This is an open group and I must say it’s one of the toughest, no doubt about that.

“We have been called the whipping boys of the group, and we like it that way.

“We are the whipping boys on some people’s lips, they have said it. Yes, we are the underdogs, but I believe our team is experienced enough to compete.

“That’s all I can say.”

The Warriors will play in the tournament opener against hosts Egypt on the 21st of June before facing other Group A opponents DRC and Uganda in the coming days.
