Uganda to send B-team and stand-in coach to Cosafa tourney

Uganda have left most of their stars out of the provisional squad for Cosafa Cup, with the selection made up entirely of locally-based players.

The Cranes are set to make their debut at the tournament as guests, starting the campaign in the quarterfinal stage.

The preliminary team has 34 players and will be trimmed down to the required 22 players ahead of the tournament. Some of the notable names in the squad include Uganda’s Footballer of the Year Moses Waiswa as well as highly-rated forward Bashir Mutanda.

Stand-in coach, Abdallah Mubiru, will take charge of the team in the absence of Sébastien Desabre who will be overseeing the Afcon preparations with the A-squad.
