Nigeria name preliminary squad for Afcon

Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr has named a provisional 25-member squad for the 2019 Afcon set for Egypt from June 21.

China-based John Mikel Obi returns to the selection for the first time since he captained them at last year’s World Cup in Russia.

The final team will be trimmed to 23 after a warm-up game against Zimbabwe on 8 June.

The Super Eagles in Group B alongside Guinea, Madagascar and Burundi. Their opening match is against Burundi on 22 June.
