Warriors forward Khama Billiat has given credit to his teammates after a spirited performance in the opening AFCON 2019 loss to hosts Egypt last night.

Sunday Chidzambwa’s troops fell victim to Mahmoud Trezeguet’s first-half strike but Billiat was inspired by the team’s performance, which saw them live up to their name; Warriors.

“I just want to give credit to the boys. As much as we didn’t get the result that we wanted we showed professionalism‚ we stayed focused‚ and we just needed to do little mistakes that we made and wrong decisions better‚” said Billiat, according to TimesLive.

“When to pass and when to shoot – those little things. I think we have learned. The guys started showing more confidence in the second half.”

The Warriors’ next assignment is a must-win encounter against the Cranes of Uganda on Wednesday.
