Dynamos leave it late to beat Chapungu

Robert Sackey scored a last minute goal which handed Dynamos a victory over Chapungu in a match-day 13 encounter played at Rufaro Stadium on Sunday.

The win was the Glamour Boys’ first in three games after losing to Highlanders in the previous round and drawing against Manica Diamonds in Round 10.

Chapungu set the pace, taking the game to the hosts in the opening moments but the hosts managed to settle and absorbed the pressure.

The first real chances, however, were created inside the last five minutes of the first half with goalkeeper Simbabrashe Chinani saving a dangerous freekick while at the other end, Dynamos launched a counter-attack which saw Edward Sadomba’s lofted effort tipped over.

The game went to the break with both sides tied in deadlock.

The second period witnessed a number of efforts created at both ends, but all lacked precision as they either went off target or had little threat to cause any trouble to the goalkeepers.

As the match looked set to end in a stalemate, Ghanaian forward Sackey buried home a first-time volley to find the breakthrough in the added time after receiving the ball from Sadomba.

The goal proved to be the last action of the game as it ended in favour of Dynamos.

At the Colliery, Hwange edged out Bulawayo Chiefs 1-0 while in Bulawayo, TelOne drew 1-1 with Harare City who finished with ten-man following Moses Muchenje’s red card in the first half.

Results:
Dynamos 1-0 Chapungu
Hwange 1-0 Bulawayo Chiefs
TelOne 1-1 Harare City
