Zimbabwean striker Macauley Bonne scored his first goal for Charlton Athletic in a pre-season friendly on Wednesday night against National League side Dagenham & Redbridge.

The 23-year-old arrived at the Championship club last month and has opened his scoring account in his team’s 4-0 victory. He netted his goal on the stroke of half-time with a smartly taken effort just inside the penalty area.

The striker was subbed off in the 61st minute after starting in the first XI.

Meanwhile, Bonne has already made three appearances for the team and is in line to mark his league debut in the season opener against Blackburn Rovers on 3 August.
