Macauley Bonne scored his fourth goal in five games as Charlton Athletic suffered late heartbreak in the 2-1 defeat at Bristol City.

Bonne had secured a lead for Charlton in the 65th-minute when he beat the advancing keeper before slotting into an empty net. The advantage, however, didn’t live long as Bristol equalised ten minutes later through Famara Diédhiou.

The visitors seemed to have picked a precious away point but City’s resilience eventually paid off when Josh Brownhill scored right at the death to seal the victory.

Meanwhile, Bonne received a booking in the stoppage time as he played the entire ninety minutes of the game.
