Chippa United coach Norman Mapeza is reportedly targeting Orlando Pirates midfielder Bongani Sam as one of his potential signings in the Januuary transfer window amid the quest to bolster the Chilli Boys squad.

The Zimbabwen coach seems to have breathed some life into the Port Elizabeth-based outfit after arriving there with them not only languishing at the bottom of the table but also without a single win. However, back to back wins over Amazulu and Black Leopards have fuelled the fight for survival hence the need for squad reinforcements.

According to South African publication Soccer Laduma, Mapeza has his sights set on  the 22-year-old Sam, who also plays for the South Africa U-23.

Sam has not really had the much needed game time at the Soweto giants and has not made any appearance since he joined them.
