Bonne back in action, strikes for Charlton Athletic

Zimbabwean striker Macauley Bonne returned to action and scored in Charlton Athletic’s 1-3 home defeat to Sheffield Wednesday yesterday.

The 24-year-old striker finally got his Zimbabwean passport, meaning he is now eligible to play for the Southern African country but due to what he dubbed as “unforeseen medical grounds”, he pulled out of the Warriors squad for the two AFCON 2021 qualifiers against Botswana and Zambia.

He returned to action and opened the scoring for Charlton in the 26th minute before Sheffield fought back to eventually win 3-1.

Charlton are now 17th on the English Championship log standings with 26 points after yesterday’s defeat.
