Match Report: Harare City 4-1 ZPC Kariba

Harare City booked their second consecutive Chibuku Super Cup final berth with an emphatic 4-1 victory over ZPC Kariba in the semi-final at Mandava stadium on Saturday.

City fell to an early Thomas Sweswe header in the 4th minute but regrouped to put up a polished second half performance in which they scored three goals.

Veteran defender Sweswe had put ZPC Kariba in the lead early into the match when he was allowed a free header off a Raphael Manuvire corner.

ZPC Kariba had started the match offensively threatening to overrun their opponents with Thomas Magorimbo winning most tussles in the midfield and Manuvire allowed free role to initiate attacks. Limited Chikafa was guilty of wasting two glorious chances in succession in the 20th and 23rd minute.

First he received a lobbed cross from Manuvire but he shot wide and secondly he received a free header from a Stephen Sheshe cross but headed wide unmarked inside the box.

Chikafa was to cost his team with his last touch of the match when he lost possession to Takudzwa Chimwemwe who released Manondo on the left.

Manondo spotted Francisco Zekumbawira inside the box who beat Tendai Hove with a low shot. City came back a rejuvenated side in the second half with KudakwasheKumwala who was outstanding on the right flank creating all the three goals.

First he beat Dexter Phiri before releasing a low cross that George Magariro turned into his own net. Kumwala fed Zekumbawira for his second when he chested the ball inside the box before he squared for the big striker to shoot home from the edge of the box.

The mid-season signing ensured that City continue with their high scoring results in the tournament when he spotted substitute Agrippa Murimba on the far side to tap in from close range.

City have so far scored 13 times in the three games beating Buffaloes 4-1 in the first round of sixteen before thrashing Triangle 5-0 in the quarter finals.
