Mutizwa strikes late to give Bosso win over FC Platinum

Knox Mutizwa delivered the proverbial sucker punch deep into stoppage time as Highlanders beat FC Platinum one nil at Mandava Stadium to reach the semi-finals of the Netone Easycall Cup.

After both sides missed a glut of chances Mutizwa took advantage of a defensive mix up between goalkeeper Petros Mhari and Gerald Takwara as the latter tried to shield the ball for the goalie to collect.

However, Mutizwa came lurking from the blind side and slotted the ball in an empty net.

FC Platinum will rue the missed chances in the first half where the trio of Brian Muzondiwa, Obrey Chirwa and Tatenda Dzumbunu being the main culprits.

However, Bosso had its fair share of chances and Nqobizitha Masuku’s clever back heeler was well read by Mhari who remained composed and safely collected.

The second half was another tale of missed chances and Mhari once again saved the platinum miners when he parried a goal bound Erick Mudzingwa header off the line.

A Marshal Mudehwe effort in the 83rd minute which over the bar was last the last real effort for FC Platinum until Mutizwa struck on the other end in stoppage time.
