Netone Easycall quarterfinals wrap up : 4 things learnt

This weekend the NetOne Easycall Cup took centre stage with the quarterfinals taking place. Here are four things we learnt this weekend

Chicken Inn can do the double and have depth

Log leaders Chicken Inn are definitely prioritizing the league but with the evidence of the weekends action they can surely do the double,  they made as many as 10 changes to the team that started the last league match  and they were still able to win their match away to Zpc Kariba. Though it was on penalties still a feat taking into consideration a full strength ZPC Kariba side couldn’t score past them in regular time. With league action on Wednesday Chicken Inn regulars could move the club closer to their first league title with a win

Bosso bring their best against FC Platinum

Highlanders fans could have been doubtful of their team’s progress after the Easycall Cup draw when they were paired with FC Platinum.Hope’s of a major silverware were slim but on the day they played effective football and won the game despite the dominance of FC Platinum. It seems Highlanders do play very well against the miners as has been clear in their three matches they have faced FC Platinum this season.

Dembare still know how to grind wins

After all but giving up hope in the league,  Dynamos’ only hope for silverware is in the Easycall cup and over the weekend the play  wasn’t exuberant  but the team did enough to get through to the semis. It was a play resemblance of the days of Pasuwa when they would hustle and bustle their way to trophies without the football being pretty at all

Joel Ngodzo back to his best

A fine talent and at one stage the most expensive local player Joel Ngodzo’s career had seemed to be on a downward spiral after leaving FC Platinum. However at CAPS United the midfielder is playing great football once again and it was clear at the weekend playing a key role as The Green Machine knocked out Hwange with  3-1 win .Ngodzo scored a good goal and also set up Hardlife Zvirekwi’s for the third goal to cap a fine performance
