The Zimbabwe national team has been urged to make the country proud at the CHAN tournament which kick’s off on Saturday . The Warriors are set to leave for Rwanda in the early hours of Saturday monringh ,at 02:30am .
The national team players and technical team was treated to a send-off at the Rainbow Tours Hotel this evening with government and other stakeholders present.
The country’s acting President Emmerson Mnangagwa told the squad to make the nation proud and bring the cup back home. Also present at the function was Minister of Sports and Recreation Makhosini Hlongwane as well as representatives of the Warriors fans.
ZIFA president Philip Chiyangwa presented the Warriors with $10 000 while ZIFA sponsor Wicknell Chivayo chipped in with $30 000. Chiyangwa promised more money for the squad if they won the tournament.
Zimbabwe are in action against Zambia on Tuesday and hoping to go reach the finals this time around after going as far as the semi-finals in the 2014 edition.
