Egypt and Arsenal midfielder, Mohammed ELneny, will not be available for the North Africans when they face Burkina Faso in the crucial AFCON 2017 semi-final on Wednesday with a calf injury.
Elneny missed Egypt’s 1-0 quarter-final win over Morroco on Sunday.
“Elneny has a bad calf strain. We will send a medical report to his club,” said coach Hector Cuper.
“He will have tests and we hope that if we manage to reach the final he will be able to return.”
Elneny will likely be a key absentee for Cuper’s side given the midfielder’s sheer grandeur and experience against top end players.
