Highlanders and FC Platinum got their Castle Lager Premiership season with wins against Bulawayo City and Dynamos respectively this afternoon while CAPS United were held by Shabanie at Maglas Stadium.
Dynamos dominated for most of the first half but poor defending on the stroke of half time saw Tichaona Chipunza handle in the box leading to a penalty.
FC Platinum midfielder, Winston Mhango, converted from the spot, giving FC Platinum the lead in first half extra time.
The second half saw Dynamos try in vain to equalise with Ocean Mushure coming close twice but FC Platinum managed to preserve their lead.
At Barbourfields Stadium, Highlanders turned on the style in the second half against Bulawayo City. Prince Dube opened the scoring in the 57th minute before Munawa doubled the lead in the 65th minute.
Rodreck Mutuma thought he had scored his first goal for Highlanders only for his effort to be ruled out for offside.
At Maglas Stadium, Shabanie Mine frustrated defending champions CAPS United as the two sides played out a goalless draw with Mupasiri, Taderera and Mupumha giving the visitors problems upfront.
