Chidzambwa will not be sacked, says ZPC Kariba owners

ZPC Kariba owners ZESA Holdings have confirmed that coach Sunday Chidzambwa will not be sacked before his contract expires at the end of this season.

This comes after a controversial audio clip recorded by a third party leaked to the press few days ago. In the clip, Chidzambwa is heard questioning the professionalism of the leadership at the club.

According to Herald, ZESA Holdings (Pvt) Ltd issued a statement on Thursday, clearing the air on Chidzambwa’s contract with the resort town side. Company spokesperson Fullard Gwasira said there were no immediate plans to suck the coach and his technical team.

“It is not in our immediate plans to restructure or dismiss the Sunday Chidzambwa-led technical team,” said Gwasira.

“ZPC Kariba FC has so far registered a steady performance in the 2017 Premier Soccer League season. We will constructively engage him to determine the renewal, or non-renewal, of the contract as we approach the 2018 soccer season.”

However Gwasira said Chidzambwa did not officially approach the club with the intention to terminate his contract therefore they are not at liberty to comment on the authenticity of the alleged clip that went viral.
