Chinani earns first national team call-up

Dynamos goalkeeper Simbarashe Chinani has earned his first national team call-up.

The 23-year-old is part of the 21-member squad announced on Monday morning that will play Liberia in the 2019 Afcon Qualifiers next month.

Chinani has been one of the few stand out players in the Dembare squad of late. His exploits have seen him becoming the prefered goalie ahead of Tonderai Mateyaunga.

The former Yadah keeper arrived at the Glamour Boys this season but only became a hit after the midway point of the season following Mateyaunga’s constant unavailability due to injuries and suspensions.

DeMbare assistant coach Murape Murape recently described him as a hard-working player saying:

“Chinani is the first choice keeper, but still he stays behind doing more, you can see with his performances, he was an average player when he joined Dynamos but has vastly improved.”

Meanwhile, the Group G encounter will be played in Monrovia on 18 November. Zimbabwe needs at least a draw to qualify for the finals to be held in Cameroon next year June.
