Jose Mourinho has shared his thoughts on the return of Zinedine Zidane to Real Madrid saying the move is “perfect”, insisting he is not disappointed about being overlooked.

Zidane rejoined the club on Monday, just ten months after stepping down as the head coach.

Jose was reported to be one of the candidates to replace Santiago Solari if the Frenchman had not been available.

Speaking on Spanish TV show El Chiringuito, Mourinho said: “It seems perfect to me. With the fantastic things he has done in the last years – it seems perfect.

“For Madrid it is perfect, and for him, it is a great opportunity to demonstrate how good he is. And now with a new project, it is fantastic.”

Asked if he is disappointed, Mourinho replied: “How can I be disappointed?! No! I never said I was keen on going there or not. I’m telling you it’s perfect.”
