Twine Phiri days as PSL Chairman seem numbered if not yet over already with ZIFA seemingly determined to remove him from his post.
ZIFA had already called for elections to appoint a new chairman despite PSL clubs officially backing Phiri. At a meeting between PSL clubs and ZIFA yesterday the majority of ZPSL clubs gave their backing to Phiri but despite the move ZIFA are likely to still press for new elections.
Twine Phiri has argued that only clubs have right to revoke his mandate.
However in the latest development ZIFA have now announced that Highlanders chairman Peter Dube is now the acting chairman.
A statement from ZIFA read:
The Zimbabwe Football Association would like to inform the football fraternity and the nation that Peter Dube is the Acting Chairman of the Premier Soccer League until further notice.
Further details regarding the Chairmanship of the Premier Soccer league will be made public in due course.
