Stade de Reims midfielder Marshall Munetsi has revealed the role his captain and fellow African Alaixys Romao played in helping him settle at the club.

The 23-year-old moved to the French Ligue 1 in the pre-season and was brought to the squad as an understudy of the 35-year-old Togolese.

Speaking to French newspaper Union, Munetsi said: “Alaixys played in big clubs and in the discussions I had with him, he advised me on what I had to do to progress, but also to understand different situations of play.

Stade de Reims is like a family in which we find all the help we need according to our needs. Reims is also a very beautiful city, people are nice. Everything is there to accelerate my integration.”

The Warriors international has so far made six league appearances, starting once in the match against PSG in which he registered a goal assist.
